In June 2021, Cynthia received her cupping therapy certifications from Modern Cupping Therapy. She was taught step-by-step approaches for vacuum therapy.

Cupping Therapy is thought to be one of the first types of historical medical treatment known to man. It dates beyond Chinese Medicine techniques however it continues to be very popular in the Asian communities for remedies such as muscle aches, diabetes and lymph health.

We use plastic or glass cups that utilizes the vacuum approach to lift body tissue and move fluids. This type of method works on many different levels of the body. When we move fluid we help with blocked capillaries, tight muscles and slow lymph systems and helps release myofascial release to lymphatic drainage.

This type of therapy uses negative pressure to relieve stagnation of blood flow and helps with lymphatic drainage, scar tissue facial lifts, and GI movement. Amazing Right!! The cups use your own body as a platform to assist your body along when it needs abit of help moving fluid thru the tissue.

Does cupping therapy hurt?

Cups can leave marks that appear to be bruises they usually take 1-4 days to fade however there is a huge difference between the two types of pressures. Cupping marks are a response from the cups negative pressure releasing interstitial debris, stagnation of blood and lymph. Positive pressure marks are bruises and do cause pain and it is contraindicated to massage or cup such areas.

The negative pressure is different than positive pressure; one of the feelings is unfamiliar… relaxing feelings when working lymphatic drainage. However, if working with muscular issues stagnation cupping can be felt as if tension was being released and sometimes the experience is a therapeutic pressure that really does release chronic pain with pressure that is appropriate for that individual receiving the cupping therapy.

Cups can and will also affect the exocrine system by influencing the flow of fluid movement and increasing blood circulation. This feeling can cause intense relaxation and detox of one’s body.
